We are just coming off of our first meeting of the year, hosted by Chef Jonathan Wither at the Chagrin Valley Hunt Club and there was a great turn out for a January ACF meeting. The food Chef Wither prepared was worth the time alone, but there was also a nice presentation form Waterfields Farms from Cincinnati about their product, which is available from Premiere Produce. I hope some of you had the chance to take them up on their offer of free samples that can be delivered to your establishment.

I think our chapter has put on some great events the past few years, and I hope to keep that momentum going for 2017. I'm honored to be taking over for Scott Ryan, I worked with him like an apprentice the past few years to help make this chapter viable and exciting. There was simple improvements, like updating our email list to the Constant Contact program and making sure our social media was accessible and interesting. Then there was the fun stuff... the chef stuff: great Presidential Brunch's the past few years that had great raffle prizes. The time we cooked side by side with all the chefs in Cleveland at the March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction. The scholarships awarded to young culinarians that are just getting into the profession...

In addition to our normal monthly meetings, we have planned a few workshops to help you sharpen your professional skills. The first one is the Hands on Fruit and Vegetable Carving Class with "Fruit Ninja" Patrick O'Brien. This class is nearly sold out! I took this class this past summer at Cook, Craft, Create 2016 in Phoenix and loved it. I've been doing fancy melon carvings on VIP continental fruit platters since then, it's really a stunning presentation to a simple breakfast platter.We also have a Charcuterie Class hosted by the Urban Farmer an the Westin Hotel in downtown Cleveland. It's a four hour class that will include lunch, and the course outline the chef gave me is packed with education. I will be finalizing details for this class and emailing everyone the details soon.

I want to welcome new members to our chapter, and members who have transferred from property memberships. I hope you can get involved, come to a meeting and network with the finest professionals in our city. Your participation will make this chapter continue to grow, allowing us to do more great things and allow you to get the most out of your membership!
